OVER 3000 HOURS OF SUNSHINE

90 % OF DAYS OVER FORCE 4 BFT

FLAT WATER AND WAVES AT ONE SPOT

Prasonisi is located on the southern tip of the Greek island of Rhodes, the main island of the Dodecanese. Its name stems from a small island just off the mainland which is connected to the mainland only through a narrow strip of sand .

This distinctive geographical feature makes the north-westerly Meltemi wind accelerate hard through the narrow passage between the island and the mainland and with this local boost Meltemi gives us a choice of awesome windsurfing conditions:

Blasting flat water conditions and freestyle haven on the cross offshore side and small waves to bump and jump wave conditons on the onshore side.

The Meltemi is most reliable during the summer season from June to September with an average of force 5-6 Beaufort. But also in May and October you may frequently experience its full power. To get the current wind speed check out our wind monitor.

Despite  cross offshore conditions Prasonisi’s sandy beach with about 20 meters of standing depth water makes it also an easy and safe location for the less experienced surfer. And no worries if you need to take a break: enjoy the clear blue sky, warm weather and sunshine paired with water temperatures of 20-25°C.

Prasonisi is well off the tourist trail, with only a few small tavernas and shops that cater for your basic needs. Nightlife is very limited and revolves around hanging out together on the beach or in the local tavernas.

Transfer time from the airport is about 90 minutes. We strongly recommend you rent a car as this is not only the most economic way to cover the distance from the airport but also it allows you to be flexible should you plan to explore the island.
